A specialist looks after your child from the first tooth
Pediatric dentists are dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teen years, with the experience and the qualifications to care for a child's teeth, gums and mouth at every stage of childhood. At Danbe Dental that specialist is Janna J. Danbe, DMD, known to her patients as Dr. Janna, who completed her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Montefiore Medical Center in association with Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Children are seen in the same Closter office where the adults in the family are treated, so a family does not have to keep two practices to get specialist care.

Care from the first tooth
Children begin to get their baby teeth during the first six months of life, and they start to lose that first set at about six or seven years, when the permanent teeth begin to replace them. Each of those stages asks something different of a child's mouth, and a pediatric dentist follows all of them.
With her training in growth guidance, Dr. Janna also works closely with orthodontists so that any developing orthodontic issues are addressed promptly.

Everyday prevention
Without proper dental care, children face possible oral decay and disease that can cause a lifetime of pain and complications. Most of the work that prevents it happens at home, in the ordinary habits of brushing, of what is eaten between meals, and of coming in regularly rather than only when something hurts.
We would rather spend a visit showing a child how to look after their own teeth than spend a later one repairing them.

A visit built for a child
Children are not always able to be patient and cooperative during a dental exam. Pediatric dentists know how to examine and treat children in ways that make them comfortable, using equipment that was designed with children in mind.
A pediatric dentist completes at least four years of dental school and two further years of residency training in dentistry for infants, children, teens and children with special needs. Dr. Janna is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, board certified in 2011, and her residency included advanced behavior management techniques and the care of patients who have special needs or are medically complex.
