Oral surgery at Danbe Dental covers routine extractions, surgical extractions and minor gum procedures. A routine extraction removes a tooth that stands clear above the gumline and can be lifted out whole once the area is thoroughly numb. A surgical extraction is the answer when a tooth has broken at the gumline, has not fully come through, or sits at an angle that will not let it leave in one piece. The tooth is then reached through the gum tissue and is often divided so that it can be removed in parts. Which of the two a tooth calls for is a question about that tooth rather than about the patient, and it is settled before treatment begins.

X-rays are taken only when they are needed to see what an examination cannot. The dental panorex is the machine used to determine wisdom tooth impaction, any cysts or tumors of the jaw, as well as possible sinus infections and TMJ dysfunction, and it is usually the image that decides how an extraction should be approached. Minor gum procedures are planned the same way, from what the examination and the image show.
